Role Summary/Purpose: In this position, the individual will work on Control System Applications NPI programs. He/She will develop and implementadvanced control algorithms to improve the performance, operability, and reliability of gas turbine, steam turbine and other simple / combined cycle power plant products.
Essential Responsibilities:
: Design and verification of new control system applications for GE Power and Water products including advanced gas turbines, steam turbines, combined cycle power plants.
: Collaborate with design engineers of various disciplines to surface control system requirements and drive equipment requirements for controllability.
: Conceptualize, analyze, and down:select control algorithms on the basisof relative merit against design goals. Tools include Matlab/Simulink, EASY5 simulation, GE ControlST, HYSIS.
: Implement control algorithms in GE Control Systems, including Mark VI, Mark VIe, and Mark Ve.
: Consider failure modes and devise control and protection schemes to guard against sensor,actuator, and component failures.
: Perform system:level control analysis to understand design space and ensure that product requirements are met or exceeded.
: Devise testing strategies and complete simulation verification of product:ready software.
: Participate in field tests for technology proofs:of:concept and final validation of control system solutions.
: Document controls designs and define how the products transactional variation will be addressed.
: Drive processes and practices to measurable improvement in productivity, design quality and reliability. Build processes to captureand reuse knowledge gained throughout the product and technology development processes.
: Develop component ownership and incorporate lessons learned from fulfillment, validation, manufacturing, and field experience into design practice improvements.
Qualifications/Requirements:
: Masters Degreein Engineering (Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Chemical).
: Minimum 2 years of hands:on experience in design and/or development of controls applications and non:classical control algorithms implementation for thermal power generation equipment, systems and plants.
: Working knowledge of turbine or combined:cycle power plant control systems.
: Self:starter with ability to work individually and in teams.
: Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives.
: Greenbelt Certified (GE Employees Only)
: Ability to support limited travel for controls field validation (less than 10).

: Working knowledge and experience with GE Mark VI or Mark VIe control system software, including Control System Toolbox, Cimplicity HMI, TCI, and the EGD communication protocol.
: Working knowledge of gasturbine, steam turbine, or combined:cycle power plant controls and auxiliary systems.
: Working knowledge of dynamic simulation packages such as Easy5, PC:TRAX, Matlab/Simulink, HYSIS or ASPEN.
: Controls domain knowledge in Model Based / Model Predictive Controls or other advanced controls strategies.
